I've used these at least 20 times this summer as socks for wet wading sneakers for cold tailwater fly fishing. They take the chill off, keep out sand and grit, fit well and are good to walk in, are easy to remove, and air dry pretty quickly.I needed a wetsuit for going out in water that was in the 50's in summer, and decided foot covers needed to be a mandatory part of that. My feet are a 7 long and an 8 wide (American sizes), and the style low, size small worked just fine for me. I did not use the Velcro straps except to hang them to dry at the campsite. The grips on the bottom were very helpful when walking over algae-covered rocks.Good water shoes. Keeps your feet from getting sore on the beach!To be honest, I didn’t care about these water socks keeping my feet warm, or if the silicon nubs on the bottom would be “sticky” enough. I also knew they were not for walking on rough terrain because they did not have a solid sole. I have been scuba diving for decades and I have several pairs of booties that do all that. I wanted a pair of lightweight water socks to use while snorkeling. These are perfect for that. I prefer not to wear fins with bare feet. They tend to wear the skin on my toes raw after several hours of activity. They also give padding over the entire foot making the fins more comfortable overall. Socks also help to keep the strap from sliding off.For the price, these are extremely well made. The seams appear well-sewn and sturdy. The top seals well and will keep out sand and whatever else may try to work its way in. They are not made for trekking long distances, so just be aware that they may wear out sooner if you do. They fit true to size. I wear a 9.5-10W and I ordered the large. They fit really well.The only thing I didn’t care to much for, and the reason for 4, instead of 5 stars, is the shape of the foot. They are not cut like regular shoes so you have more room over the little toe than normal. Not a deal breaker, and I don’t even notice when wearing them, but just not ideal.These wetsuit socks are good quality and stitching seems durable. They are nice for jet ski addition to wetsuit for warmth. The soles of the socks are the same neoprene material, and have rubber dotted grip similar to some anti slip socks. These will not provide protection against stepping on sharp objects on the beach, so tread carefully as you well feel hard or sharp objects through the neoprene. That is why I would not recommend these for scuba diving, and prefer wet suit booties with a thick rubber sole to provide more protection, especially when having equipment on but without fins as they provide a lot more foot protection. Due to the 3mm thickness, these socks are for providing additional warmth in warmer water temperatures.Socks were comfortable when put on. Velcro strap allows you to tighten at the ankle. Slight wrinkle at top of foot near ankle. Tested in an extremely cold dew morning. Socks were comfortable to walk in. Water collected on top of the foot and was eventually absorbed into the material (see before and after). According to instructions, which are detailed, the absorbed water "forms a thin layer close to your feet, thus keeping the feet warm". My feet did not get cold in the 10-minute cool weather wet walk. Contrary to the Amazon description, the instructions clearly state that "...diving socks, not beach shoes...it cannot be used for strenuous sports such as beach volleyball and football".Very basic booties but they do the job, keeping you warm. Won’t keep you dry, that’s not their purpose. Always wear with socks to make donning and doffing easy. A bit narrow at the base of your toes where your foot has the widest span. This is why I say basic and have to deduct a star. A more expensive design will have a more anatomical fit. The Velcro closure above the ankle is a bit tight. For a larger frame could be an issue.These socks work great for rainy days. I like to going mountain biking and hiking every now and then. These help keep my feet dry which helps when it is cold out as well. The velcro helps tighten the top which prevents water from leaking in.
